Introduction

The CAN configuration panel is required for configuring digital CAN sensors and expansion devices on the CAN bus. Devices can be connected in series via a CAN port. Each individual sensor value from a sensor or expansion module can be used to trigger system events. All configured CAN bus sensors and their elements can be found in the "System Structure" panel.

Currently, all Didactum monitoring and control systems have one CAN port.

The 550T is the only system with two CAN ports.

Activate CAN

In the system's web interface, go to >> "Settings" >> "Network" >> "Enable CAN" >> "Save" >> "Save settings to flash memory" (icon in the upper right corner of the web interface).

Configuration

The CAN bus is used to connect CAN sensors and CAN modules.

Before using the CAN sensor module, the CAN bus must be configured for operation with this module.

To configure the CAN bus, go to "Main Menu" >> "CAN Configuration".

Each station tab contains current information on the status of the node and a list of the CAN sensor modules connected to that node.

The following operations can be carried out on the CAN bus node:

OptionDescription
RefreshUpdates the current information about the status of the node.
ConfigureStarts the configuration process of the nodes for the connected CAN sensor modules. The old configuration will be lost.
SaveSaves the list of CAN sensor modules in flash memory.
RestartRestarts the CAN bus node.

To delete a CAN sensor module, click on the desired module. A window will appear. Click "Delete" and confirm.

To configure a CAN bus node for operation with the CAN sensor module, connect the CAN module to the CAN network and execute the corresponding configuration procedure in the web interface using the "Configure" command.

The configuration process is displayed at the bottom of the tab and takes approximately 2 minutes. Detected modules are added to the module list during configuration. After configuration is complete, the node resumes normal operation. Sensors from detected CAN modules are added to the element structure.

Sensor names are automatically assigned in the format {Module Name}{Serial Number}-{Sensor Type} and can be edited.

To remove the CAN sensor module from the configuration list, use the "Delete" command. Then save the changes with the "Save" command and restart the node with the "Restart" command.
