Log files

The log files stored in the Syslog of your Didactum Monitoring System can be exported.

You can configure the desired settings under "Main Menu" >> "Preferences" >> "Syslog".

The following options are offered for exporting the logs:

Syslog Server AddressEnter the IP address of your Syslog Server here
FTP Server for log messagesEnter the address of your FTP Server here

Saving system logs to SD card:

Didactum monitoring systems are equipped with an SD card slot for storing log files, sensor data, and configuration settings.

Please note that the SD card is not included. Always use SD cards from a reputable manufacturer. Didactum monitoring systems support FAT32 as well as the preferred Ext4 format.

Important:

Before inserting the SD card, please format it in one of these two formats! To manage the SD card, go to the "Preferences" menu and select "SD Card." If you do not have an SD card installed, you will see the status "not connected."

Click "Refresh" to update the view. Always click the "Eject" button before removing the SD card.

The information is stored on the SD card in 16 KB blocks. Each block consists of a file with a fixed size of 4 MB. The current file is named "now.dump."

If the file size exceeds 4 MB, it will be renamed to "xxxxxxx.dump". Newer files have a higher decimal number than older files.

If your SD card runs out of storage space, the oldest files will be deleted by the system. Didactum offers a utility for analyzing the dump files. Please note that the Didactum Dump Decoder requires Java Runtime Environment version 1.7 or later to run.
