Installing an SSL certificate on the monitoring system
Editor's Note:
Please be aware that the speed of the web interface may decrease due to the key length used.
Creating a self-signed certificate with OpenSSL is possible.
Self-signed certificates can be generated using a script.
Installing your own SSL certificate
To install your own self-signed SSL certificate on the Didactum infrastructure monitoring system, please go to System Settings => Network in the German-language web interface.
Please note that HTTPS must be enabled. Then, please upload the key and certificate files.
After clicking "Save," the infrastructure monitoring system will automatically start with the new settings.
Note: If the certificate files you created are faulty, the monitoring system will not accept them and will use the following settings: Port 80, HTTPS disabled. The corresponding error message will then be found in the Didactum monitoring system's log file.
Installation of SSL certificates on discontinued IT surveillance devices
For the discontinued first-generation IT monitoring systems (Monitoring System 100/500/500-DC) with firmware release 2.5xbxxx, please proceed as follows regarding the installation of self-signed SSL certificates:
Using a text editor, please combine the two files cert.key and cert.crt as follows:
First, copy the contents of cert.key, then the contents of cert.crt into the text editor. Save the resulting file as custom.pem. Copy this file to an empty USB flash drive and insert the drive into the USB port of your Monitoring System 100/500/500-DC. The self-signed SSL certificate will then be automatically downloaded and installed by the monitoring system.
After completion (approximately 20 seconds), remove the USB flash drive and open the web interface of the monitoring system via HTTPS.
First, copy the contents of cert.key, then the contents of cert.crt into the text editor.
Editor's Note:
Please ensure that the "Enable SSL" option is enabled under System Settings => Network!
