Surveillance with WhatsUp Gold

WhatsUp Gold is a commercial network monitoring software that enjoys great popularity worldwide. IT managers and administrators benefit from WhatsUp Gold's proactive solution for the early detection of network problems. If problems or changes occur with firewalls, routers, or switches, the responsible network administrators are immediately notified. The configuration and change management integrated into WhatsUp Gold allows, for example, the convenient restoration of network device configurations. At the same time, WhatsUp Gold offers users important features such as application monitoring and comprehensive reporting capabilities.

WhatsUp Gold supports the monitoring of SNMP v1, v2c, and v3-enabled environmental monitoring systems from Didactum. With WhatsUp Gold, you can measure and monitor, for example, the temperature and/or humidity recorded by Didactum sensors in the IT rack, server room, or data center. If a UPS or air conditioning system connected to the Didactum monitoring hardware via a potential-free switching contact signals a malfunction, this is also transmitted (remotely) to WhatsUp Gold.

A larger number of switching contacts can be monitored using the "SNMP Walker" function integrated into WhatsUp Gold. Sudden changes in condition, risks, and hazards occurring in the server room or data center are reported to WhatsUp Gold by the Didactum monitoring hardware in the form of SNMP traps. This ensures that a potential threat, such as heat, smoldering fire, or leakage, does not jeopardize the operational reliability of the sensitive (IT) infrastructure.
