unction and purpose

The Dry Contact Expansion Unit increases the number of dry-contact inputs on any Didactum monitoring unit.

Each Dry Contact Expansion Unit adds 32 dry-contacts, providing scalable monitoring capabilities for complex infrastructures. It connects easily to any CAN port within a CAN bus chain and can be daisy-chained with other CAN sensors. This ensures seamless integration and flexible system expansion for enhanced monitoring and control.

The number of dry-contacts in the Dry Contact Expansion Unit can be increased to up to 64 with an expansion module.

CAN devices and sensors can be daisy-chained. Up to 10 to 32 CAN devices can be connected in series. You can connect CAN sensors or expansions to a single CAN bus line.

Connection

The following diagram shows how to connect multiple Dry Contact expansion units to a main monitoring system via a CAN bus chain.

Installation

TR is the switch closest to the CAN inputs. This switch should be turned on at the last sensor in the CAN chain.

At the last sensor of a long chain exceeding 10 meters, the terminating resistor should be turned off.
