Firmware Update
This section describes how to update the firmware of the first-generation Didactum IT monitoring systems.
The first generation includes (production period until the end of 2016):
- Didactum Monitoring System 100 (not 100 II / 100 III)
- Didactum Monitoring Systems 500 / 500-DC (not 500 II)
Detailed instructions on how to update the firmware of the new generation of Didactum monitoring devices (50 / 100II / 100III / 500 II) can be found here.
Please pay attention to the notes included with the firmware file!
Always create a backup of your configuration and save the measurement data stored in the data logger.
Note that an incorrectly performed firmware update can result in total loss of your data and configuration. Incorrectly performed firmware updates are not covered by the warranty.
In this case, the Didactum Monitoring System must be sent in and repaired by the Didactum Service at your expense!
All Didactum Monitoring Systems can be restored and updated via HTTP, FTP, or by connecting a USB stick (not included).
Restoration is carried out using a special recovery tool.
The update of your Didactum Monitoring System is indicated by the illuminated “ERROR” LED on the front of the device. When the update of your Didactum Monitoring Appliance has been successfully completed, the “ERROR” LED turns off and the “ACT” LED starts blinking at a higher frequency.
If the update was not completed successfully, the “ERROR” LED on the device remains permanently lit.
Under “System menu” you will find settings for uploading the new Didactum firmware updates.
After downloading the firmware, go to the Web GUI and select “System Menu” → “Firmware” → “Upload source” → “From local filesystem” → “Choose File”.
There, select the downloaded firmware and click “OK”. You will then see the message “Firmware upload”. The firmware update process is indicated by the “ERROR” LED on the front of your Didactum Monitoring System.
Firmware update via FTP:
Firmware update via USB stick:
To install the firmware via USB, you must download it here.
Then save the file to the root directory of your USB drive. Next, insert the USB drive into the USB port located below the Ethernet port. The Didactum Appliance will then begin the firmware update process.
Progress is indicated by the LEDs on the front of the device. The Didactum Appliance will restart automatically after a successful firmware update.
Important:
If your Didactum 100/500/500-DC monitoring system has an older firmware version ("2.60xxx" or earlier) installed, you must update the monitoring appliance to the current firmware version "2.6.3b588" from October 1, 2016, using individual firmware updates.
Please note that due to changes (Linux OS kernel updates, new features, etc.), the IT monitoring system may need to be reconfigured. In this case, please take screenshots of all important settings.
Upon request, our technicians at our location in Münster can install the latest firmware for you (service fee applies).
To arrange this, please contact Didactum support by email at support@didactum.com.
