Overview of the Didactum Monitoring System web interface - Part 1

Every networked measurement and control system and every PDU from the Didactum brand is equipped with a multilingual web interface.

As part of the Didactum Lifetime Support, you receive free firmware updates and updates for the hardened Linux operating system. Simply enter the IP address of the monitoring system into the browser of your PC, notebook, tablet, or smartphone. The innovative Didactum web interface is flexible enough to provide you with the tools you need to monitor and control your mission‑critical rooms and facilities. You and your colleagues receive important dashboards including live updates and current status information in real time.

The web interface of the networked IT‑monitoring systems and PDUs is divided into the following key sections:

  • General statistics
  • System tree
  • Dry contacts, also known as potential‑free / digital contacts
  • SMS messages and dial‑in function (via optional GSM or LTE modem or Web‑to‑SMS service)

  • Logic editor for creating rules such as notifications, alarm messages, and automatic actions (actuators)

Technical editor’s notes: Due to the different model variants and various equipment options of the IP‑based measurement and monitoring systems from the manufacturer Didactum, not all functions may be available to you in the WebGUI. For example, the Didactum Monitoring System 50 is not equipped with a CAN expansion port. The screenshots shown depict the Didactum Monitoring System 100 running the firmware from May 2020. The browser used was Google Chrome Version 81.0.4044.138 (Official Build) (64‑bit).

Overview of the most important settings in the web interface

Here you can see the login window for the LAN-based monitoring system. The devices currently support 10 different languages. More languages ​​are in preparation.
The built-in setup wizard guides you through the most important settings of your networked monitoring device. Here you configure basic settings such as language, date and time, time zone, time synchronization, network settings, SNMP protocol (v1/v2c/v3), and the administrator account.

Every Didactum monitoring device is equipped with potential-free inputs for IP connection of building automation systems. Here, we have connected the UPS system to one of the alarm inputs using a two-wire cable. Emergency power generators, air conditioning units, or reed switches can also be integrated into the TCP/IP-based real-time monitoring of the measurement and monitoring system.
Add further elements and functions to the system tree of the measurement and monitoring system. Extensive functions are available, such as email, SNMP traps, SNMP getter, SMS text notification, timer function, trigger function, ping, Modbus RTU, and IP video cameras. If a temperature and humidity sensor is connected, the system can also automatically calculate the dew point.
We now click on the connected temperature sensor. You can view the temperature trends over the last seconds, hours, days, weeks, or months, including graphical representations. With a mouse click, you can export the temperature recording from the IP-based measurement and monitoring system. The measurement data (XML or CSV format) can be further processed using programs such as Microsoft Excel. Create insightful analyses and reports on temperature monitoring.
Display of the room temperature recorded every second in the mission-critical server room, including date and time. The values ​​from the precise temperature sensor are shown to three decimal places.
