Set storage location for video recording

All LAN-based infrastructure monitoring systems from Didactum can be equipped with a USB video camera. Suitable USB cameras can be found in the online shop.

You can save the video recordings of the connected USB camera to an external medium (SD card or USB flash drive). This video can also be sent by e-mail if desired. To do this, users must first connect to the infrastructure monitoring system and configure the connected USB video camera. The USB camera can be found in the "System tree" menu. You can give the camera an individual name.

In the system tree under "Cameras", you can make the following settings:

Name: Individual name of the USB video security camera (e.g. Video camera server cabinet)
Username: Enter a username here if desired for secure camera access
Password: Enter a password here if desired for secure camera access, can also be left empty if desired
Recommended FPS: the preferred number of frames per second when outputting via the web interface
Resolution: Enter the resolution of your USB camera here (160x120/320x240/640x480)
Preview: View the live stream of the USB camera here

Editor's note: If the "Username" or "Password" fields are empty, access to the camera is not secured! If you use a username & password, access to the camera's live stream is as follows:

"http://<username>:<password>@192.168.0.185/webcam/?action=stream" (without quotation marks).

Storage location for video recording

To save the video recordings, you must first configure the desired storage medium under "System Settings" => "Logging". Depending on the model, Didactum infrastructure monitoring systems offer SD card and/or USB flash drive and email logging.

Here, you must first specify that you want to record the videos. To do this, activate the checkbox under "Logging" that enables saving to the medium, and then the checkbox "Save video files".

Email delivery of the video recordings

All video files are stored in the subdirectory "video". The name corresponds to the recording time. When sending video clips via email, the files are attached to the email. Up to 10 different recipients can be specified for the video files.

Create a rule for automatically creating video recordings

Next, you need to create a rule in the "Logical Scheme" menu to start video recording.
