Sensor query under Zabbix

In the first part of our guide we have shown how the SNMP‑compatible IT monitoring systems are integrated into the ZABBIX network monitoring system.

Now we will show you how to query the IP temperature sensor within Zabbix. To query the IP sensor under ZABBIX via SNMP, please go to “Configuration” => “Hosts” and create the required entry.

Make the following required settings:

Name – any descriptive name.

Type – required SNMP configuration, in our case SNMPv2c.

Key – a unique value that uniquely identifies the created sensor item.

Interface – host address.

SNMP OID (Object ID) – details can be found in our SNMP manual.

SNMP community – SNMP access settings (depending on the selected SNMP protocol).

Type of information – “Numeric” is selected for sensor values (“float” or “unsigned”, depending on the sensor type).

After you have entered the required settings, please go to “Monitoring” => “Latest data”.
