Quick Guide

This quick start guide will help you quickly set up your Didactum IT monitoring system.

Please read the user manual very carefully before putting your Didactum monitoring system into operation.

Please also observe the safety instructions contained therein.

Set up email settings

Under SYSTEM TREE, please click the "+" icon.

Select "Email". Enter the required information for your email server here.

If necessary, select TLS or STARTTLS for email encryption.

Name and configure sensors

In the system tree, you'll see all the components of the Didactum monitoring device. You've already set up email. A little below, you'll see the "Onboard Temperature Sensor." Click on it. Rename this sensor, for example, "Main Unit Temperature Sensor."

Then simply enter the required temperature thresholds.

  • Low = 0.0 degrees
  • Low warning level = 5 degrees
  • High warning level = 30 degrees
  • High alarm level = 50 degrees

You can also set the individual thresholds using your mouse.

Setting up alarms

All alarms and notifications are configured under "Logical Scheme."

Note: If no alarm has yet been configured in the IT alarm system, please click the "+" icon in the upper left corner.

A window will appear. Configure, for example, the temperature alarm.

Everything here works according to "IF" and "THEN" statements.

So: Under Element, select the "Server Room Temperature" sensor.

IF "Server Room Temperature" is set to "Alarm (High)," THEN "Email Server" is set to "Send Message."

=> AN EMAIL ALERT IS SENT HERE when the alarm level is high. You can also configure lower temperature levels (warning "High") to trigger an email alarm. Afterward, simply enter a name for the scheme, such as "Server Room Temperature Alarm," and click OK.

Of course, you can add further elements to the alarm. If your Didactum IT monitoring device is equipped with a GSM modem, you can also send alarm messages via SMS.

Test alarms

Of course, you'll also want to see if the device is sending alarms and messages. So, under "System Tree," select "Server Room Temperature Sensor."

Here, you then set the "Warning Level (High)" to 16.5 degrees Celsius and the "Alarm Level (High)" to, for example, 22 degrees Celsius.
