Function and purpose
Temperature and humidity sensor connections
The CAN Combined Temperature and Humidity Sensor is a high-quality humidity and temperature sensor that stands out for its exceptional reliability at an affordable price. Designed for precise environmental monitoring, it can be daisy-chained via a CAN bus to connect multiple devices.
This allows for accurate temperature and humidity measurements at various points within a room or server rack. This ensures comprehensive environmental data collection across different locations and enhances your ability to maintain optimal conditions in critical IT infrastructures or industrial facilities.
In the web interface, each environmental parameter of the CAN Combined Temperature and Humidity Sensor is displayed in a separate element. This allows you to define individual thresholds and trigger events such as notifications and other actions.
The dew point can be easily calculated using the temperature and humidity parameters of the CAN Combined Temperature and Humidity Sensor in the Didactum web interface.
CAN devices and sensors can be connected in series. Up to 10 - 32 CAN devices can be connected in series. You can connect CAN sensors or extensions to a CAN bus line.
Physical description
1. LEDs: “RUN” (green) – indicates that the device is correctly connected to the main module; “ERR” (red) – indicates an error; the connection to the main module is interrupted.
2. “Humidity and Temperature Sensor”
3. “TR” – This switch must be set to “ON” (down) if the sensor is the last link in the CAN chain.
Example 1: A CAN sensor is connected to the VT8101 main module via the CAN bus. In this case, it is the only sensor and the last link in the CAN chain. Its second “TR” switch must be set to “ON” (down).
Example 2: Five sensors or modules are connected to the main module via the CAN bus. The sensor is not the last link in the chain, but is located, for example, in the middle. In this case, the “TR” switch must be set to “OFF” (up).
Example 2: Five sensors or modules are connected to the main module via the CAN bus. The sensor is the last in the chain. The "TR" switch must be in the "ON" (down) position.
4. "CAN" – Two equivalent digital RJ11-6P4C connectors for connecting to the master module, CAN sensors, or CAN extensions on a CAN bus with automatic detection.
