Instructions for Outdoor Temperature Sensor

The IP-rated outdoor temperature sensor is used for 24/7 measurement of the important environmental factor of temperature outdoors. This weatherproof outdoor sensor is compatible with all networked monitoring and control systems from the manufacturer Didactum.

Installation instructions for outdoor temperature sensor

Please do not expose the outdoor temperature sensor to direct sunlight. This could distort the outdoor temperature monitoring data. When mounting the outdoor temperature sensor on the exterior wall of the building, ensure that there is no ventilation shaft behind the wall.

Directly mounting the outdoor temperature sensor next to a window is also not ideal. If the window is opened in winter to ventilate the office, etc., this can distort the measurement data. The outdoor temperature sensor should be installed at least 150 cm above the ground. Ground frost/rising cold also affects the measurement results.

If installing the outdoor temperature sensor near the ground, cable protection should be installed (to prevent damage from rodents). Ideally, the outdoor temperature sensor should be mounted on the exterior wall of the server room/data center. The exterior of the server room or data center's air conditioning unit is usually located there as well.

Please ensure that the sensor is not exposed to direct sunlight. Otherwise, please choose a different installation location.

Sensor extension

The outdoor sensor comes with a 15-meter RJ-11 patch cable. You can extend the sensor up to a maximum of 100 meters using your own patch cable.

The wiring diagram for Didactum's smart sensors can be found here. If you extend the outdoor temperature sensor, please ensure you use waterproof heat-shrink tubing.
